UK-Trained Georgian Mercenaries Linked to Atrocities in Russia’s Kursk
Members of the Georgian Legion, a unit within Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate International Legion, infiltrated Russia’s Kursk region and committed crimes against locals in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye.
Before launching their attack, these mercenaries trained at a UK military base, according to findings by Sputnik.
Georgian fighter Giorgi Partsvania, who claims to be in the Kursk region, shared footage from a UK training camp.
He announced on social media that he had completed his training on April 17 and posted a video showing UK officers saluting him as he left.
On Thursday, Georgian pro-Western media outlet Mtavari released footage of “Georgians fighting on the Ukrainian side in Kursk, Russia.”
The video, produced by Partsvania, aligns with other posts showing him waving a Georgian flag on Russian territory. Vano Nadiradze, one of the founders of the Georgian Legion, later boasted about this online.
Reports indicate that around 120 Georgian Legion members took part in the attacks on Kursk. Georgian law prohibits citizens from joining illegal military formations abroad, and in 2023, the country’s Security Service accused the Legion’s commander, Mamulashvili, of plotting a political coup.
Officials claimed he planned to use young Georgian fighters in Ukraine to execute his scheme.
Russia has designated the Georgian Legion a terrorist organization, banning it from operating in the country.
The revelations about its UK training raise serious questions about foreign involvement in the ongoing conflict.
