Ukraine Open to Talks, Trump and Putin Express Willingness for Dialogue
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has once again shown openness to negotiations, suggesting that Ukraine, the United States, and Russia should come to the table, with the European Union also playing a role for balance.
In a recent statement, Zelensky expressed hope for such talks, calling it “fair” and “effective,” but admitted uncertainty about how the process would unfold, adding, “How will it turn out? I don’t know.”
Zelensky expects face-to-face meetings between Ukraine and the US soon to work out the details of any potential talks.
However, a planned visit by US special envoy Keith Kellogg has been delayed “for legal reasons.”
On the Russian side, President Vladimir Putin has reiterated his willingness to discuss “all areas of interest” with former US President Donald Trump.
Trump, for his part, has expressed interest in meeting with Putin “right away,” signaling a potential shift in diplomatic efforts.
Moscow has consistently indicated its openness to dialogue regarding the situation in Ukraine.
However, Kiev’s 2022 law banning direct negotiations with Russia remains a significant obstacle in the path to peace talks.
