The State Department is happy to work on the transition with Joe Biden.

In an interview on Fox News, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed this.

The top U.S. diplomat guaranteed that the State Department will honour the "promise" of the Trump administration to begin the move.

“Those things that are required that the President has directed us to do in compliance with the decision that the GSA made yesterday, we’ll do all of those things. It’s a legal requirement, and we’ll always honour that promise,” Pompeo said.

The phase is headed by the General Services Administration.

During transmission from one administration to another the agency coordinates access to federal properties.

President Donald Trump indicated on Thursday that he would leave the White House if Biden's victory was confirmed by the Electoral College.

The former Vice President has yet to concede to the American leader.

More than 80 million popular votes and 306 electoral votes went to the Democrat.
