Who is the Big Winner in the Recently Concluded APC Congresses in Adamawa State?

The recently concluded APC state congresses have come and gone leaving behind agonizing tales for those who felt shortchanged and a sense of ecstatic fantasy for those who won big! But a closer look into the countenances of some major players and their body language will reveal just one thing: the party is not ready to wrestle power from the incumbent PDP in 2023!

This time around, allegations are rife that a certain group close to the seat of power in Abuja used all unconventional means to hoist those they feel will protect some vested interest against the overall interest of the party. Former SGF BD Lawal hinted how the party's earlier plans to zone the chairmanship to the Southern zone (competent Christian) and the secretary to Northern zone (competent Muslim) was thwarted by the said Abuja group who he allegedly said used so many shenanigan approaches to have their way.

One impressive phenomenon about the recently concluded APC state congresses is that majority of those who are aggrieved did not go about making outbursts and vituperations, promising fire and brimstone is a clear indication of either of these two things: that the party is truly putting its acts together to give the PDP a hot chase out of the Dougirei Government house or the party is sitting on a keg of gunpowder waiting for the right time to implode!

While the implosion of the party is suicidal, aggrieved politicians as we all know are the most dangerous set of people in the polity and can go to any length to prove themselves. In 2019, Commander Abdullazees Nyako floated the ADC as a fallout plan to the internal party crises between his supporters and Gov. Bindow. The move is partly the reason Gov. Bindow lost to the incumbent. Is the APC on the inglorious path of repeating the same history?

For now, the likes of Senator Ishaku Abbo, Senator Aisha Binani, Governor Jibrilla Bindow, Nuhu Ribadu, BD Lawal amongst others were not happy with the way the congresses was done. For example, Senator Ishaku Abbo clearly stated that:
"the Members of the houses of Assemblies including my own member and the LGA party chairmen forced the delegates into submission including physically collecting ballot papers from delegates and alleges that there was also issues of over-voting".

Furthermore, in many quarters, there is the issue of the list of delegates not being published as stated in the electoral Act while allegations are rife that the lists were changed! This issue I hear is being challenged in the court of law, therefore, I wouldn't be preemptive to avoid being prejudicial or prejudiced. But truth be told: many are aggrieved and their grievances may make or mar the party in 2023.

The emergence of Alh. Ibrahim Bilal as the elected state party chairman wouldn't be of much concern if not for the powers that be who felt his emergence will cement their chances of deciding who gets what, when and why in 2023. For all who cared to ask, the underground murmuring and hush voices are all pointing to one man: Dr Modi (Younger brother to Hajia Aisha Buhari).

So far, from my own standpoint, only Senator Azeez Nyako is not aggrieved by the congress despite the fact that his Aide (Godwin Chakuyika Kala'a) was edged out by Dr Raymond Chidama of the Bilal camp. It is clear that if Dr Modi eventually gets the gubernatorial ticket of the APC, senator Azeez Nyako will get his senatorial seat ticket back too.

So far, the Bilal led executive has already started reconciliation and thank you visit all 21 local government areas. While this is commendable, efforts must be on top gear to keep the prominent and promising men and women who helped build the party within the fold.

Dr Mahmood Halilu is allegedly the mastermind behind the emergence of Alh. Ibrahim Bilal needs to stop hiding behind the smokescreen. Many associate him with gross notoriety and arrogance due to his closeness to the seat of power ( as a younger brother of First Lady Aisha Buhari). He needs to man up and fight his way into the real political arena.

I overheard the walls of the Dougirei government murmuring that if eventually Dr Modi is given the ticket of APC, incumbent governor Ahmadu Fintiri needs not to waste money on posters or campaigns as Modi will just be a walkover.  Whether that is true or a tall utopian dream, only time will tell.

Right or wrong, the opposition party in the state needs a unified and consolidated front if they are serious about occupying Dougirei Government house in 2023. The internal discontentment between various interest blocs led to the failure of the party in 2019. I hope the APC in Adamawa state will put their acts together if they intend to give the incumbent a good run for their money.

Now, apart from the  former senator Abdullazees Nyako's camp ( Who seemingly edged Binani in the central zone), and Hon Jafar (Mubi North/South and Maiha), almost all current serving APC members in both state and national Assemblies are not happy with the outcome of the state congresses.

If BD Lawal, Nuhu Ribadu, Senator Abbo, Sen Binani, Barr. Ngillari, Gov. Bindow and several other key party members are not happy with the outcome of recently concluded Ward, Local government and state congresses, I wonder the kind of dicey situation the APC of Adamawa state is grossly enmeshed in... I am deeply wondering and pondering.
