I saw when Wing Commander Isa Mohammed left Government House, Yola in 1990 as Military Governor of Gongola State and handed over to Group Captain Abubakar Salihu. I was there when Salihu moved into the new Government House at Dougirei in 1991.

was there standing next to him at Mahmud Ribadu Square on 2nd January 1992 after the inauguration of Abubakar Saleh Michika as Governor of Adamawa State. The convoy forgot him after the swearing in.

I was with Saleh Michika on 18th November 1993 in his new house at Army Barracks Road and discussed the regime change at length. I was there when he handed over to Group Captain Gregory Agboneni at Government House. He (escorted by his nine or ten-year-old son) said before leaving in his white Honda Accord 1993, ‘”History will vindicate me.”

In 1995, I was there at the Yola Airport when an aircraft left with Agboneni and landed at Ilorin, Kwara State to bring their Military Administrator, Commissioner of Police Mustapha Ismail, to his new station in Yola. I joined the convoy to take him to his office.

Shortly in 1996, I was at the airport to join other people to welcome Navy Captain Joe Kalu-Igboamah. We bade him farewell in 1998 to receive Lieutenant Colonel Ahmadu Garba Hussain.

On a rainy day on 29th May 1999, I witnessed the inauguration of a civilian governor, Mr. Boni Haruna and participated in the briefings at Government House, Yola. Eight years later, I was among the last people to leave the Governor in what I used to call the Glass Office. We took a group photo and said our last prayer
I was in the motley crowd on 29th May 2007, when Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako called for the three musketeers to join hands and lift Adamawa State. I was in Kaduna when the so-called impeachment of Nyako was concluded and watched the drama on Channels television.

NYSC Felicitates with Adamawa State Governor

I was preparing for the defense of my Master’s degree project in October 2014 when Bala James Nggilari was sworn into office as Governor of Adamawa State. I was co-opted by Dahiru Bobbo OFR in the Transition Committee after the election of Senator Mohammed Jibrilla and helped with the final touches of the report. I witnessed the inauguration of Senator Jibrilla as Governor from a distance.

In just a few days by the Grace of God, I hope to join in the celebration of a new governor for the state in the person of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

May Allah reward all of them for their service and contributions. May He guide and protect the incoming chief executive to steer the ship of state and etch his name in gold. May Allah bless the next generation of the people and government of Adamawa State.
