Gov. Buni Alleviating the economic hardship and Ameliorating the pains of the people through (SEMA)
The office of the state emergency Management agency, is to provide expertise and leadership for the department’s emergency Management responsibility, state wise, through the integration of emergency Management programs, functions, and supporting activities to prevent, protect against, Mitigate and effects.
The Responsibilities of state emergency Management agency (SEMA) among others are:
a) Be the umbrella body to coordinate the activities of relevant agencies in prevention and management of disasters in the state.
b) For the development of loss prevention programmes and process necessary technology to mitigate identified emergency situation.
Gov. Buni made the smartest decision on appointing Dr Mohammed Goje as the executive secretary Yobe state emergency Management agency (YOSEMA)
The state areas of responsibilities. Direct responsibilities include Mitigation, preparedness response and recovery:
Preparedness state laws provide governors and state agencies with the authority to plan for and carry out the necessary actions to prepare for respond to and recover for emergencies.
YOSEMA under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Goje have achieved tremendously success. Dr Goje is very good at this job and experienced, he has being an humanitarian advocate with different NGOs of both international and national bodies before his appointment as the executive secretary, state emergency Management agency (SEMA) under the led administration of His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni.
Gov. Buni noted that any move by (SEMA) reflects the policy thrust of his administration, to alleviate the economic hardship and ameliorate the pains of the people at all ramifications. Inline with the nation’s, National emergency Management agency (NEMA) we believe that relief Materials to affected communities, or persons is a key marker of social progress.
So far, YOSEMA is performing beyond expectations in meeting the policy thrust of Buni’s led administration within three months of Goje assuming office as the executive secretary.
Recently some local government areas have been affected by flood due to heavy downpour across the state. Goje’s approach towards the situation is commendable.
Food items and relief materials were distributed to the affected communities, orphanages and people with disability, while measures to tackle the re-occurance was taken.
Distributed items among others are :
1) 50kg bags of rice
2) vegetable cooking oil
3) Bundles of roofing zinc
4) Blankets 4 (Covering)
5) Family size Mat & kettles
6) Pieces of roofing woods of sizes
7) containers of Nails
8) Baby and Kids wears among others.
